Question? Should I be original?

///Question? Should I be original?

As designers this should be a no brainer…

Be original? what a question?

But, this is a serious question.

I got an email last week from a student-

She asked: “Is it ok to use stock images in my logo and branding materials?”

Now let’s take this apart, shall we?

She is designing her own brand

She is designing her own logo

What makes her unique and what makes her original.

She has to decide if her clients would like a look that at least ten other businesses have

Because her own business as a Graphic Designer is not unique.

It is stock, it is run of the mill, it looks like ten other businesses (at least)

So you tell me.

What do you think?

Should you use stock imagery in logos and branding?

or…do you think your clients are paying you for something
