Look at the beautiful colors and the darling kippah and tzitzis on this design. Just print it, and insert it into a frame. Then wrap it up in some cellophane or gift wrap and jot down a personal message on the corrdinating gift cards and you are set to go!

In Type Personality Part 2, I will desicss a different aspect of this. How about, if you would be able to work with a font that matches your personality? Sounds interesting, right? How is this done?

I just received today from Adobe a very interesting email with a link to a tutorial that goes through the guidelines on how to create your own font. I thought this was very cool and so clearly laid out. Here it is for you to challenge yourself!

I look forward to seeing the typeface you have designed and wonder how it will fit into the designs you are creating for others. Will you be creating custom fonts for a specific design? The possibilities are endless

What I love most about it are the beautifully designed infograms. You know sometimes you need to learn some boring information or statistics? But what if it were presented to you in a visually compelling manner. We as designers can certainly appreciate that because that is what we try to do daily: Translate our clients vision, or sometimes not so exciting product into something compelling for the consumer through the visuals that we create.

Anyways back to my main point. mashable.com had this awesome infographic illustrating  the fact that by 2014 more that 18 million students will be learning online! That number nearly blew me away. Can you imagine! And, here it felt good to be part of this innovative way of learning. Isn’t it great to be getting great design training right at home? Even if you are not sure if this would work for you you can always try it out free just to get a little taste and to be even for a short amount of time, that 18 million and 1st student!

1. Organize your photos

Use software such as picasa by google. get it at http://picasa.google.com/. You can organize, tag, share and even apply cool hoto effects to your pictures

2. Delete your photos

Once you have organized your photos, it is time to delete those that did not make the cut. Delete the photos from your camera only once you double check that you have a copy on your computer and also in the cloud (a service like dropbox.com is great becasue it will synchronize your files for you and allow you to access them from any computer!)

3. Create a special photo creation

Since I really enjoy playing around with photos, enhancing them and designing them into a final product, I am always looking out for ways to show my pictures off in an interesting, unusual way.

So here goes:

a. www.shapecollage.com

Basically with their FREE software you can do the following:

• Make collages in any imaginable shape or form
• Rectangle, heart, circle, letters, or even draw your own shape!

b. Dry erase calendar from Mpix

This Photo Dry erase calendar will tie very well into our post on how to organize creatively! This a great way to turn a routine task of organizing your schedule into something personal and fun.

c. A custom photo tie from Zazzle

Don’t like the ties in the stores, would like to match for a special occasion or would you like a custom photo tie as a Father’s Day gift.

Each person has their own unique personality. Each design should also have its own unique personality. Accordingly when designing, it is important to match the correct personality typeface to the personality that you are trying to give the design.

In this typography tutorial we will see how this works with some examples:

1. ChunkFive (click here to download free) If you are looking to portray something solid, dependable and also want to make an impression this typeface is perfect. From the slabs that that letters are sitting on (it looks like the letters have supports to sit on), to the almost even thickness throughout each letter, this font is bold in a dependable way.  It also would pair wonderfully with  Titillium Text Regular, Calluna, Minion Pro.

2. Euphoria Script (click here to download free) This fanciful, flourishy script that is elegant, but also has a playful note as well which can lend to its youthful appearance!. You would need to be careful to use such a kind of font in moderation.  It is great for a headline, but balance it off with a simple font for the body text (I know people equate simple with boring, but you know what they say, too much fancy cake will leave a sickly sweet taste in a person’s mouth)

3. Kawaii Food (click here to download free). This font is a dingbat font. This means it is made of pictures.  As you see here, I took one of the dingbats (the letter f),  I then paired it with AvanteGarde, which is a clean, unadorned typeface.  This gives this whole simple, easy and fast logo a modern look.  There are dingbats to fit many of your needs.  You can adjust dingbats in Photoshop Illustrator and Indesign, (more on that in another post.)

There are several ways of doing so.

Like the saying goes (or how I think it goes) an organized desk is a sign of an organized mind. Here are some fun, creative and inspiring tools that will help you organize your desk creatively.

All you need to do is:

1. Download the file by right clicking on the following link: The Bold Edge Free Pesach Placecard and choose save link as, then save it to your computer.
2. Open it up and print it out preferably on cardstock paper (cardstock is a paper that is thicker than regular copier paper).
3. Cut it out using the guides provides.
4. Use a pen or marker to write your guests names.
5. Set the placecards on your Pesach/Passover table.

An interesting thing is that they sometimes also make great psychologists, as they try to analyze what the client really wants, and what will really file the needs they may not really they do. Sounds complex…well hey, it is!
